Sending Email from Appeals

View Appeals Ready for Email

Select an email status from the status dropdown which include:

A list of records will appear that includes the Appeals and Audit statuses. The URL link will open the appeal record. The email link will open the appealsstages record. The origin link will open the corresponding audit record.

If the email field is blank, it is because there is no corresponding appealsstages record for this appeal. While you’ll see this frequently with the Jonathan test data, this should be more unusual on the LIVE database. In most cases, this will happen for old appeals imported directly from Google Docs. To remedy this situation, a new AppealsStages record needs to be created and the approriate ids filled in. Please contact a programmer.

Send Email

Users must select the checkbox for all appeals records to be send outgoing emails. Remember to select your STAFF NAME from the staff dropdown box and then hit the Send Email button.

Records without email addresses will not send emails. If one of the selected records has an invalid email address, you may see an error in the application. Error messages are stored in the production.log file.

At present, they are no errors displayed on the screen. This is an enhancement currently being worked on. In the meantime, please know that up till the process reached the bad record the successful emails were sent and updated correctly. All rows succeeding that bad record will not be sent, and will remain in the email list.

Email Sent

Successfully sent emails will update the appeals record to a "closed" status. All emails are BCC'd to reviews@stopbadware.org.

Appeal records will no longer appear in the "to be sent email" list when the process returns. Instead, they have been updated with a "closed" status.

Closed records have email data in their correspondence. Clicking on the "Click here to view correspondence" link in an open Appeal will open the query screen below.

Correspondence from users appear in light colors where email from StopBadware appear in darker colors. The "Email Type" column displays whether the record is a "Message" from the site owner or a "Badware Email", "Badcode Email", or "Clean Email" sent from Stopbadware.

To Be Sent for Rescan

This email feature has not yet been implemented. Clicking the Send Email button for these records will not send email nor update appeals records. It is in discussion how appeals records that need a rescan from our partners will be sent to our partners. In the meantime, this status allows users to display these records easily.
