The Test List page of the Appeals Application displays all the Test records in our database. This screen is one of two that make up the heart of the Review Request process.
It is Stopbadware's goal to complete Requests for Reviews in under ten days. Those records that have remained open for more than ten days are displayed in a darker color. If a site has appealed multiple times and has also surpassed the ten day limit, the record will appear in a deepr color. All other records appear in lighter colors. A color legend is available on the index page.
A user can sift through the list of records by clicking on the page numbers at the bottom of the screen or selecting the Next/Previous links on the top right. The records can also be filtered by status by selecting a value from the Status dropdown listbox or typing in a portion of the url name in the Search Urls textbox.
To edit a Test record in more detail, the user can click on the url to open the Edit screen.
In addition to the editable fields, the Edit Screen displays the Url and Email address of the site owner.
On the right side of the screen is an Audit trail that allows the user to view changes to the status of the test. Clicking on the "Click here to view history details" link will allow users to view more details.
Clicking on the "Click here to view badware links" link will allow users to view badware links for this site provided by our partners. In the future, we intend to provide functionality to allow testers to edit the status of each link. This will provide us with statistical data to know how many of the links provided by our partners actually link to valid badware.
When a staff member finds badware on a site, the badware type is selected from the BadwareType dropdown listbox. At present, badware is seperated into two types: executables and code.
Badware in executable form includes dialers, applications bundled with trojans, adware or other badware. When bad executables are found, two new fields appear on the screen inviting the user to input the "Page where badware was found" also referred to as the "Origin Link" and the "Badware Executable Name".
Badware in code form includes iframes and javascripts. When bad code is found, two new fields appear on the screen inviting the user to input the "Page where bad code was found" also referred to as the "Origin Link" and a text box to paste the actual "Badware Code" that was found.
When these two fields are populated, they are used to provide the details for automated emails sent to users informing them of the badware that was found on their site.
